These days, stress has become a part of life, as a routine. Hence often ignored and not talked about as a ‘big deal’ because some way or the other you think you can deal with it. It is important to understand that stress beyond a specific saturation point for any individual is harmful, an invitation to diseases hampering psychological as well as physical well-being
Let’s start from the core, that stress is a normal response of the human body to challenges or threats. For instance, if your brain detects an obstacle, it releases two hormones, namely adrenaline and cortisol which prepare you to face any challenge. This is an ‘action-reaction’ act of the human body to the stimuli of challenge. Sometimes, stress can even work as a driving force to overcome that specific challenge. Now, this reaction is sustained by the human body for a short period of time. Sometimes, due to constant obstacles, the human body cannot sustain this state for long, leading to chronic stress that is extremely harmful for the mind as well as the body. Thus, this chronic condition disrupts the equilibrium of human body and it starts displaying symptoms like fever, drowsiness, fatigue, poor appetite and headache.
Adoption of a healthy lifestyle is primarily important to tackle with stress. Cutting down junk, preferring walking whenever possible and practising meditation and yoga on a regular basis can certainly help you take control over that mental tension. Listen to the music of your choice; engage in your favourite hobbies, stay active is what you can do to reduce stress considerably! Things like emotional eating and excessive mental fatigue can easily be dealt with a healthy and active lifestyle.
Even though the world prefers to socialize on social media these days, be an exception and spend more time with your friends and family, in flesh! Sharing your feelings can certainly help lessen your worries than piling up those up in your mind leading to mental illnesses like depression, excessive anxiety and panic attacks which can certainly prove harmful in the long run.
It is harmful to let stress pile up in your mind. Mental health is generally one of the most avoided topics these days. The general tendency bents towards embracing stress as no big deal, hence the rising cases of depression these days. In order to avoid such consequences it is better to seek medical help for chronic stress conditions and get timely treatment.
Nowadays, stressful conditions aren’t age specific. Rising competition, personal expectations and societal pressures has made everyone a victim of stress from school going children to adults. Stress management for students and at work should be practised on a regular basis for a more relaxed and productive mind.
In conclusion, stress is no villain if it doesn’t cross its limit. To stop it getting beyond its limit, know what stress management is, practise it consciously and make your life, a stress free zone!
