Estradiol is a form of the hormone estrogen. It’s also called 17 beta-estradiol. An estradiol test measures the amount of the hormone estrogen in your blood.
Doctor may order an estradiol test if female or male sex characteristics aren’t developing at the normal rate.
Reference Values: Females
Premenopausal: 15-350 pg/mL**
Postmenopausal: <10 pg/mL
**E2 levels vary widely through the menstrual cycle. Males: 10-40 pg/mL
