Breast cancer screening is the medical screening of women’s breast there are signs and symptoms of the disease. Breast Cancer Screening Tests

Mammogram

It is one kind of X-ray of the breast. Mammograms can detect breast cancer at its early stage, when it is easier to treat and before the sickness defeats you. Mammograms at regular interval can lower the risk of breast cancer and thus reduce the death rate.

Breast Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

A breast MRI uses magnets and radio waves to take pictures of the breast. MRI is used along with mammograms to screen women who are at high risk for getting breast cancer. Because breast MRIs may appear abnormal even when there is no cancer, it is not used for women at average risk.

Molecular breast imaging

It is used for imaging people with dense breast tissue and it is medically seen that it has more accurate results compare to MRI in such cases. Even it is better than mammography in some people with dense breast tissue, detecting two to three times more cancers in this population.

It however carries a greater risk of radiation damage making it inappropriate for general breast cancer screening. It is possible to reduce the dose of radiation used.

Ultrasonography

It can be done along with mammography for those women who have dense breast tissues but the results are not that accurate. It increases false positives.
